It is a beautiful moment for Hollywood actress, Lupita Nyong’o as her father, Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o is about to become a governor in their native Kenya.
Though he has not been officially declared winner by Kenya’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Nyong’o is already leading in the pools with a vast chunk of the votes.
Amazingly, the 71-year-old professor holds a healthy lead with 95% of the votes counted.
He had got 261,972 votes, representing 63% of the total votes cast, ahead of closest challenger and incumbent, Jack Ranguma in the Kisumu County governorship election.
The other aspirants, Christine Otieno, David Wayiera, and Peter Omolo, had just 1% of the votes among them.
